LG.Philips has just announced that it will launch a 42″ full HD LCD TV display that will be much thinner than current panels (and you thought they could not get any thinner), measuring a mere 19.8mm in thickness sometime in Q1 2008. This panel is said to be 40% thinner and 10% lighter compared to traditional 42″ LCD TV panels, incorporating state-of-the-art 120Hz technology that does away with motion blur even when you’re watching in full HD resolution. It will rely on cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) backlight on this panel as a move to keep production costs lower compared to a LED backlight. I wonder how this will stack up against Samsung’s white LED LCD panel?
