No Samsung Large OLED TV before 2010

In what could be the most horrific gadget news of today, Samsung has shown that it does not forecastshipping Full-HD large (40+ inch) OLED TVs before 2010. This makes sense, given that OLED manufacturers are still having yields (% of defective products) issues with OLED and obviously, the more pixels there are and the more likely some will be defective.

OLED, which stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode, promises thinner TVs with better image quality (contrast, brightness), because each pixel “emits” light, instead of just being a color filter for the backlight. Also, it doesn’t require a perfectly flat piece of glass, unlike LCD and Plasma displays. More OLED stories
