Replug has come up with a breakaway cable for 3.5mm audio jacks, similar to what MagSafe offers for Apple’s power connection. This offering from Replug will snap away whenever excess pressure is applied, hence protecting your audio jack “from the rigors of daily use”. This nifty little peripheral will work with any 3.5mm auxiliary input, whether on your laptop, PMP, or desktop. Watch out for it sometime this fall at a yet undisclosed price. This would make a great gift for butterfingers who tend to drop their devices or trip on wires that could possibly result in a permanently damaged 3.5mm audio port. While I think the chances of that happening is pretty unlikely, you can never be too safe, can you?
