Women are advised to perform monthly breast examinations in order to detect breast cancer at an early stage, but nobody can be 100% thorough. Enter the Smart Bra prototype that was developed by researchers in the UK. This device will come with a series of microwave antennae that detects temperature changes in the breast which normally points to an early stage of breast cancer, helping to prevent the tumor from developing and spreading into surrounding areas. The concept in question is known as thermography, and will use either an audible or visual alarm to alert wearers the potential need for subsequent medical expert diagnosis and assessment. It will take quite a while more before this technology is perfected since benign growths and nonmalignant inflammatory changes could also trigger the alarm. Wearing one at this point in time might trigger off alarms that would ultimately end in unnecessary worry.
