Sony has a new projector in town, namely the Bravia VPL-VW200 SXRD. Sony has described their latest creation as a combination of the best features “from three award-winning projectors (the VPL-VW60, the VPL-VW100 and the QUALIA 004) together with the latest BRAVIA high-end LCD televisions”. The VPL-VW200 SXRD delivers 1080p full HD 24p true cinema resolution courtesy of a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, boasting a contrast ratio of 35,000 to 1, a brightness level of 800 lumens, a response time of 2.5ms, and a 100MHz frame rate. You also get short throw technology that casts an 80″ screen from just 2.5m. Are you drooling already? Don’t get too excited just yet, as it only supports a couple of HDMI 1.3 ports when three is the norm these days. The asking price of £8,500 will definitely keep most people away from it.
