The Amazon Kindle is no vaporware as confirmed by Newsweek’s cover story, and from there we’ve also discovered the Kindle will retail for $399 and come with a 6″ E-ink display and EV-DO “Whispernet” on Sprint for anytime, anywhere book purchases. Books will retail for $9.99 a pop, and there will be plans for users to subscribe to papers as well as “selected blogs” for an undisclosed monthly fee. There won’t be any backlight with the Amazon Kindle though – so you can forget about reading in the ark. Word has it that the Kindle will come with a 30 hour battery life, taking a mere two hours to recharge. Would you pick this up at that price point?
