Word has it that Amazon’s e-book reader, known as the Kindle so far, will be announced at the W Hotel in New York on Monday. This newcomer to the e-book scene reportedly costs $399 and will be able to download books directly from Amazon as long as you remain within a WiFi hotspot. The rumor mill also spun a story about Amazon signing a deal with Sprint for EV-DO access. The relatively high price point makes it rather difficult to penetrate the masses, and that means I’ll still stick to my paperbacks, thank you very much.
