Samsung F1 Series 1 desktop hard drive

Samsung has begun to ship its SpinPoint F1 Series 1 desktop hard drive that boasts 7,200 rpm spindle speed, low power consumption, a whopping 1TB capacity and a relatively low price tag of $399. Despite having such specifications, the F1 Series is touted to be Samsung’s ‘racing green’ environmentally friendly drive, boasting a 2Gb/s SATA interface, optimized electronics, improved heat dissipation (Samsung claims this makes the F1 the coolest operating 1TB drive in the market today), and a power consumption of just 6.7 watts in idle mode and an average of 7.2 watts in random seek mode.
