Altair Nanotechnologies Inc. announced today that Dennis “Kilowatt” Berube has taken hold of the National Hot Rod Association’s (NHRA) Super Pro class world speed record where electric dragsters are concerned, driving an electric vehicle powered by Altairnano lithium-titanate battery packs. The electric dragster known as Current Eliminator V hit a top speed of 153.6 mph at the Speedworld Motorplex drag strip, eating up a quarter-mile in 8.10 seconds while setting a new electric dragster world speed record in the process. This is a rather huge leap considering the old record (held by Dennis himself) was 8.801 seconds.
