GDDR5 memory from Samsung

Samsung has successfully developed the GDDR5 (Graphics Double Data Rate Series 5) memory, touting it to be the world’s fastest. To get an idea on just how fast it is, it is capable of transferring data up to four timesfaster than memories used in current generation consoles like the password-crackin’ PS3 and Xbox 360.

Running out of bandwidth is a common cause of low performance in graphics applications. Bandwidth requirement can be easily increased in a number of ways: increase screen resolution, better texture filtering, better anti-aliasing,using transparency on a larger screen surface, or preferably… all of the above atthe same time:)
