Hitachi Display has rolled out a 3.5″ LCD panel that is meant to be used in automobiles, featuring an LED-based backlight that is easy on the eyes no matter what the surrounding light levels are like. Features include a contrast ratio of 800 to 1, a brightness level of 300 nits and a maximum resolution of 320 x 240. It is said that this panel further reduces power consumption by another 15% compared to its predecessor, which is a good thing. Samples of this product has already begun to ship – no idea on when we’ll see these appear in actual vehicles though.
