Sony has confirmed that its PS3 console will be getting an update sometime this month, allowing it to support Blu-ray Disc Profile 1.1. What does this new development mean for the end user? For starters, they can now enjoy picture-in-picture with their discs in addition to supporting secondary audio and video decoders. While all players shipped after 1 November are supposed to support Blu-ray Disc Profile 1.1, it remains to be seen whether PS3 consoles fall under that category or not. Well, whatever it is, do look out for the firmware update this month.
