Transcend has just rolled out its 16GB SDHC card for the masses, making this Class 6 card just about the largest capacity of its kind from Transcend. The marketing department claims to offer a guaranteed minimum writing speed of 6MB/s, but that remains to be verified in real world usage. 16GB is definitely a whole lot of storage real estate, capable of holding around 8,000 seven megapixel images before it requires a trip to the local hard drive. Another feature is a mechanical write protection switch to that prevents data from accidental deletion or over-writing, while ECC (Error Correcting Code) detects and corrects errors during data transfer automatically. This 139 Euro SDHC card is accompanied by a lifetime warranty.
