The Voiscan device is not only capable of scanning page after page of text, it features the ability to translate the scanned words into a spoken language of your choice. Granted, the translation probably won’t be tense and word perfect, but then again it is better than grasping at straws especially when you are in a foreign land with nary a familiar face (or accent) in sight. The Voiscan is tipped to target frequent travelers as well as the visually impaired when it is released sometime in 2008.
