Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd

[PMA 2008] I just said that a high-powered zoom is everyone’s favorite feature, and here comes the FinePix S8100fd, with an 18x Optical Zoom. It offers full manual control if you want to tap all its resources, but my guess is that most users will rely on the full-auto mode with the smart flash (iFlash), or use the presets. Like other Fuji cameras, it has image stabilization, red eye removal, face detection, high-speed continuous shooting and movie recording. There’s one black spot: what’s with the faux-leather on the grip?

Highlights

  • 10 Megapixel
  • 18x optical zoom
  • High speed shooting (13.5fps @ 3MP)
  • Dual Image Stabilizer
  • Face detection (2007 ‘Best of What’s New Award’ from Popular Science Magazine)
  • 30fps Movie Recording (with audio)
  • 2.5” Display
  • SD/SDHC Slot
  • Launches in March 2008 for $400
