
You have guessed right: this is a 1.5 inches thick Plasma HDTV and yes, that’s the new trend. With no room to go up in resolution (1080p is the “ultimate” resolution – for a while) HDTV makers are seeking the next top item on anyone’s list: thin and light. It also has additional brains and supports stuff like Wireless HD and wireless content streaming.
Of course, there were some pretty exciting uber-thin HDTVs at CES 2008 (Samsung ultra-slim , Pioneer Kuro 9mm) but the Hitachi has something that others don’t: it will be on the market in the next few months. That’s what Hitachi says…
