
Hitachi has announced that they hold the largest capacity, 500GB, in a 2.5” form factor (typically used for notebooks). Named Travelstar 5K500, the new drive will exist in 400GB and 500GB capacity and will use a 3Gb/s serial ATA to communicate with the computer. In case you wonder, this is a 5400RPM drive (rotations per minute).
Asus has already announced that they will build a laptop codenamed Asus M70, that will feature 1TB of storage, thanks to two Travelstar 5K500 drives.
