HP plans to use its computer background to get an edge over the competing HDTV manufacturers: it plans to make its TV smarter, something that Samsung or LG might have hard time to do, due to a lack of software expertise.
Only time will tell if that strategy works, but explained simply, a MediaSmart TV can streammusic, images and moviesfrom the local network or from the internet (via wired Ethernet or WiFi). HP made it somewhat easy forthird parties to create applications for this environment (like plug-ins). Finally, it is also a Media Center Extender.
