Kontron has just released the COM Express compliant ETXexpress miniBaseboard that comes with a really, really small footprint of 170×145mm. What’s the whole point of this exercise, you ask? Well, it targets applications designed to run on COM Express compliant designs, and this ETXexpress miniBaseboard does its job well as a universal platform for rapid software validation. According to Kontron, it is also a cost-effective alternative to full custom designs from Intel (Intel Pentium M/Celeron M, Core Duo, Core 2 Duo, the works) and Via. Some of its features are :-
- 1 x PCI Express x1 slot
- 1 x ExpressCard54 slot
- 1 x 32-bit PCI slot
- 6 x USB 2.0 ports
- 1 x Gigabit Ethernet interface
- 4 x SATA interfaces
- 1 x CompactFlash card slot
