We wrote that Palm might shut down its stores – the news is out. Seven out of eight Palm stores, along with 26 smaller airport wireless stores. They close amid business difficulties: it has not come forward with a killer-device like the Treo 600, 700w once were nor the killer application/OS that would make use choose Palm over rivals HTC or Apple.
Being commoditized by Windows Mobile made them a target to better device makers, and the inability to make Palm OS evolve hampered user experience control. I don’t see a way out for Palm at the moment.
