Samsung and O2 have joined hands to announce the Samsung Solid’s launch – the first hardy handset from the Korean cellphone manufacturer. The Solid (so-named for obvious reasons, no doubt about that) claims to be able to withstand its fair share of knocks thanks to anti-shock properties as well as built-in water and dust resistance. A thick rubber body ensures a drop on the floor won’t result in your heart going down vertically as well. Features of the Samsung Solid include a built-in FM radio, Bluetooth connectivity, a camera, and an integrated flashlight. Heck, it also boasts SOS dialing that sends an alert message to a nominated person whenever you press the volume button three times in quick succession – I wouldn’t place the Solid in a kid’s hands as you could end up trying to explain just how you managed to send 10 SOS signals within a couple of minutes. The Samsung Solid is available from O2 for £59.99 on O2 Pay As You Go or free for a 1-year contract.
