Dell has stopped selling AMD-based computers from its website but said that the company would still carry AMD processors in their stores and over-the-phone. Whichever way we look at it, this is a big blow for AMD (Dell.com is where the volume is), but let’s face it, Intel’s current architecture is just more efficient.
Interestingly enough, this wasn’t the case a few years ago, and it took Dell way too much time to jump on the AMD wagon – a little too late in our opinion to have any significant impact in the business (and possibly alienating Intel on the way). AMD lost its edge when the Intel Core Duo came out.
