We recently got wind that Sony will be collaborating with Sharp where LCD panels are concerned, and now the news reports that Canon is buying into Hitachi;s LCD business. Looks like Canon is more than ready to splash out approximately £200 million to purchase a 25% stake in Hitachi’s LCD division. This move by Canon ensures that it will have ample supply of displays for their cameras and photocopiers. In addition, Panasonic has also taken up another quarter of Hitachi’s business a few weeks back, just so you know who’s going to bed with who. Will the consumer benefit from all these companies snapping up shares of other companies’ businesses? Only time and good corporate governance will tell.
