
Nanoptek, a startup based in Maynard, MA is working on a way to separate hydrogen from water that would have several advantages: low-cost, zero carbon footprint and being local.
Nanoptek says that it has improved the uses of Titania to absorb more solar energy than its competitors, by getting the material to absorb not only UV light but also visible light, which represents most of the spectrum. The point is: producing low-cost hydrogen is key to what some call the “hydrogen economy”. I’m only a hydrogen enthusiast, but this seems like an interesting development to follow.
