If you read Ubergizmo on a regular basis, you might have seen previous stories about Navizon. It is a mapping application that triangulates cell towers’ location to provide a rough estimate of your iPhone’s position. Think of it as a GPS Emulator except that it is not as accurate as the real thing.
The latest version of Navizon features a user interface update but it will most importantly run in the background and keep your position updated, even if you are using another application. Your friends can now track your position with the Buddy Finder. The system can also alert you if a buddy is nearby.
