Robotic Glider Harvests Heat Energy

Talk about surfing with a purpose – US scientists have successfully developed a sea-going robotic glider which is capable of harvesting heat energy from the energy, capable of covering several thousands of kilometres during tests. This glider does not need any battery to run and can participate in oceanographic surveys for up to half a year at any one time. However, certain components on the glider itself still require battery power such as sensors so that the data-logging system will be able to communicate with the satellite communications system. Another plus point of these green gliders include their ability to work round the clock no matter what the weather condition is like, making them a much more suitable agent than humans at the sea.
