Smart holograms that utilize materials known as hydrogels could soon be used to monitor our health, as it shrinks and swells in response to local environment conditions. Imagine diabetics using it to check their blood-sugar levels, patients suffering from kidney disorders to check on adrenaline levels and even used by security forces to detect various threatening chemicals like anthrax. I can imagine that the final product will be something like a “Windows Vista Capable” sticker being stuck to our skin, where the color change and size denotes what’s going on in our bodies.
