Kyocera has successfully developed a new printhead technology which it claims is the fastest high-resolution inkjet printhead for commercial applications in the world. For the uninitiated, the KJ4 Series is capable of pumping out 150 meters per minute on a Miyakoshi MJP600 commercial printer at a resolution of 600×600 dpi. Whipping out my calculator, the final amount is an astounding 1,000 A4-sized pages per minute, which results in a mind boggling 16 pages per second. This feat is achieved courtesy of Kyocera’s proprietary piezoelectric ceramics technology that creates a compact piezo actuator that controls the ink flow, enabling high-speed, high-resolution printing.
