Scientists have managed to discover a method to recover the key that unscrambles data from a PCs memory, which means encrypted information stored on a laptop is more vulnerable than previously thought. This will definitely throw a spanner in the works as disc encryption is currently the main method companies and governments use to protect sensitive information. While this won’t affect ordinary users like you and I that much, the fact that such a vulnerability exists is still a security liability. Guess locking your PC screen or turning to “Suspend” and “Hibernate” modes are no longer that viable, but chances are encryption products will then adapt to this situation and discover new ways of protecting information.
