Most alarm clocks wake you up only when you ask them to, but the Quantys solar-powered clock also rouses you from your slumber whenever it detects smoke in order to save you from getting roasted in the event of a late-night fire. Quantys claims that the batteries need only to be charged up once a year, but I would prefer to remain on the safe side and place this beside the window sill to ensure there is more than enough juice to help me get up in the event of a fire. Best to keep those smoke detectors running in your home simultaneously if you’re a paranoid android. The price to pay for such a fancy alarm clock? $122.
