The European Commission has decided to allow cell phone service to commence on commercial flights over its territory, claiming that a set of rules and established technology will enable safe calling without compromising the flight’s safety. I’m not too sure whether this is such a good idea – after all, what’s worse than a long haul flight in economy class as you get to acquaint yourself with your neighbors’ toilet habits compared to one with all that, complete with the person next to you jabbering away. After all, people who talk on cell phones tend to talk a whole lot louder than they would in real life. Ah well, hopefully the cost will be a killer so you will be able to catch up on that all-important sleep in order to avoid jetlag.
