Icron has a new range of USB Distance Extenders known as the Ranger 2101/2104 that are capable of maintaining hi-speed USB connection over CAT5e cables within a 100m radius. It will come in a single node and with a 4-port USB hub versions, retailing for $349 and $389, respectively. Guess making a purchase decision isn’t too hard here, eh? The market here would be pretty niche, ranging from industrial control to remote desktop and automatic telematics, since the averae home user would already own integrated solutions where printers, scanners and storage are concerned.
