That’s the kind of news that I like to hear from Intel: a 50% price cut on a high-end CPU (was $530 is now $266 - in bulk). And I’m not even shopping for a new processor. It is not unusual for Intel to perform dramatic price cut to help its partner clear their inventories before the new stuff comes in. I’m not sure if this particular cut is due to a seasonal refresh or to the continued price war with AMD – it’s probably both. The consumer wins, although the price cut did not trickle down to retailers, yet.
If you care, the similarly positioned Xeon got a 50% price cut too.
