Mind-controlled Robotic Limbs in the Works

Researchers at Osaka University are currently working on developing robotic body parts which will be able be controlled by thought, as long as the necessary electrode sheets are placed directly on the surface of the brain. The main point of this research is the release real-time mind-controlled robotic limbs for the disabled, which will go a long way in integrating them better with the rest of the able-bodied society, providing them with greater freedom and mobility (especially in third world countries). So far willing subjects who have enlisted are already scheduled to have brain electrodes implanted for the purpose of monitoring epilepsy or other conditions, and wiill undergo the electrode-placing procedure pretty soon.
