Slingshot has the honor of launching the first pre-paid wireless broadband Internet service in the country, enabling folks to hook up to the World Wide Web with DSL speeds just about anywhere they are (with a decent signal, of course), as long as you have enough credit left. Slingshot hopes that this new service will appeal to those who balk at paying $75 a month, and the fact that there is no long-term contract to tie yourself down to adds to its appeal. The service will roll out this June 1st at selected retailers nationwide as well as online.
