Now isn’t this one of the more zany ideas you’ve come across? Sure, your friends have taken a long sabbatical to do crazy stuff like sail around the world, but you too can embark on a journey around the world (in less than 80 days, too) by cycling. To be more specific, do it through Google Earth. Apparently, that is what Mike is doing, using a SunSPOT (3D sensor device that has a Java software interface) to let his bicycle function as a flight control joystick for Google Earth’s flight simulator. The pedals supposedly function as the power control, while two more level controls will work as aerolon (banking) controls. All from the comfort of your home, too, so you can always munch on a slice of pizza and down some Coke while you’re busy crossing the Atlantic…on a bicycle.
