SID 2008 is the platform where E-Ink Corporation decided to demonstrate its new displays with fast screen response and flexibility, along with a spanking new controller co-developed with Epson that is capable animations, fast menus, typing, tablet screen sizes and increased grayscales. Also, there is even brighter hope for the future as E-Ink paraded its new color electrophoretic displays on glass operating at fast speeds, and flexible substrates aimed at future applications. Sounds as though we will be seeing plenty of flexible displays plastered over everything and anything in the future – hopefully these won’t take up too much juice in the process as we’re trying to lower overall power consumption to help keep the earth green.
