LG Display and Universal Display recently teamed up to unveil a new prototype of a flexible AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode) display, bringing brighter colors complete with better saturation and gamut that will definitely put any current generation HDTV to shame. Another interesting aspect about this flexible 4″ display is the inclusion of a one-sided electrical connection, providing it unpredecented flexibility. The military has already expressed interest in this prototype, since it can be used as a wrist-mounted PDA for soldiers on the ground. As for non-military applications, this could very well be the first step in digital newspapers, interactive office partitions, windows and even automotive instrument panels.
