Looks like LED lightbulbs will be here to stay, with Faiz Rahman, a nanoelectronics researcher at the University of Glasgow, handing out that prediction. Apparently LED light bulbs for homes could debut on store shelves within the next 2 to 3 years, jostling with incandescent and fluorescent bulbs for the customer’s ever worthless dollar. I suppose the shift is inevitable considering LED bulbs offering up to 70% more efficiency compared to incandescent (5%) and fluorescent (25%) bulbs. One thing LED bulbs will have to overcome at the moment would be the lowering the manufacturing cost which is sky high at the moment in comparison.
