Flexible Tactile Display

Finally, the flexible tactile display is no longer a dream but reality with researchers from Sungkyunkwan University in Korea and the University of Nevada in the US successfully having developed a prototype. This device can function as a Braille display for the visually impaired, and that’s just skimming the surface when it comes to practical applications. This new display is made possible thanks to soft actuator technology that is soft and flexible enough to be worn around virtually any part of the human body you can think of. Needless to say, much work needs to be done if this were to be developed for the masses. Future improvements in the line include an improvement in display performance as well as new applications for it.
