Lite-On will be releasing new external USB slim-type DVD burners in Q3 later this year, having UMPC owners in mind in addition to the legions of Eee PC users as well as other low-cost portable PCs that have ditched the DVD burner in order to end up with a compact form factor. Well, carrying an external hard drive as well as an external DVD burner to go along with my laptop certainly defeats the purpose of being mobile and traveling light, but there are times where such a device is needed, so why not choose the slimmest one in the market? There is no word on pricing, but these ought to be pretty popular IMHO.
