Philips has a brand new LCD display that won’t target the consumer masses, but instead will be a commercial solution in the form of digital signs for retail, advertising, and gaming applications in casinos. What makes this different from other LCD displays? Well, it is a 22″ 3D monitor that doesn’t require the use of special viewing glasses, thanks to the company’s 2D-plus-Depth (the 2D image and its depth map) format. It will have WSXGA (1,680 x 1,050) resolution along with the following specifications :-
- 16:10 aspect ratio
- 300cd/m2 brightness
- 1,000:1 contrast ratio
- 5 ms response time
There is no word on pricing, but it should go on sale in Q4 2008.
