I know that there are plenty of WiFi hotspots out there today, but many of them still require you to pay some sort of upfront fee before you get connected. Instead of going through the hassle of turning on your laptop to look for a (free) WiFi network, why not use the WiFi Snooping Sneakers instead? Inside is a built-in WiFi detector that makes it a snap to find out whether there is a nearby signal – all you need to do is look down. Tiny lights on the shoes will blink when there is no signal, while they remain lighted up as long as you’re within the vicinity of one. Would be cool if the circuit inside is powered by kinetic energy.
