The iPhone 3G has already sold over a million units within less than a week of its launch, but the impressiveness of that achievement is (slightly) watered down due to the fact that it required the purchasing frenzy of 21 countries all over the world to surpass the million units mark (units.. shipped or sold? this is unclear). As for the original iPhone, it took 74 days to break the million units mark. Of course, handset sales are not a sprint but a marathon, so let’s wait and see whether the iPhone 3G is able to move a phenomenal amount of handsets in the next few years. In other unrelated news, more than 10 million applications have already been downloaded from the App Store since it was opened late last week.
