Murasaki Shikibu Robot

“The Tale of Genji” is often touted as the first novel ever written, and the protagonist from that novel, Murasaki Shikibu, has been revived in her 21st century robotic form. Standing 31cm tall and weighing 1.5kg, this robot won’t come in fancy, transformable style but will don a kimono dating back to the 11th century. She is smart enough to use a folding fan just like your average noblewoman despite lacking the dexterity of a human. Just like any stately old lady, she’ll be able to recite her tale thanks to an integrated MP3 player. I wonder if she’ll give you a good whack on the head if you nod off while she’s spinning some yarn. Powered by NiMH batteries, Murasaki will get about on two wheels and moves using an 8-axis system.
