Pioneer 16-layer Optical Disc

Pioneer has managed yet another world’s first with their 16-layer optical disc. This new optical disc is able to hold up to 400GB worth of data – that amounts to a whopping 25GB per layer. I wonder just how soon will it be before this technology catches on, making hard drives quiver in their pants when it comes to a choice of back up media. The first batch will be mighty expensive though. Blu-ray who?
