Apple Could Offer eSATA Storage

There is a distinct possibility that Apple will be offering external Serial ATA (eSATA) storage to its entire Mac line up after details from a patent filing were revealed. This application also touches on an external computer accessing this storage via a switching mechanism, where holding a key on startup or toggling a hardware control on the host computer itself will result in a low-power mode where its internal storage is made available, being the same as if an external drive were hooked up to the system. This is very similar to Apple’s Firewire Target Disk Mode.
