Jonathan Fenton has come up with the Biopod design that is a futuristic looking, airtight kitchen top storage container which can be used to store organic waste. It relies on the idea of vacuum ionization to slow down the decomposition process of waste before it is composted, helping you recycle organic waste in a hygienic and bacteria-free manner. The LED button that you see above will change color gradually, letting you know of the decomposition status by virtue of monitoring methane levels. It is powered by a 9V battery, but it remains to be seen whether anyone is willing to take up this project and manufacture it on a large scale basis.
