Buffalo’s latest external DVD Super-Multi Drive, the DSM-SL20U2 not only allows you to enjoy your handsome collection of DVDs which you have amassed over the years, it also boasts the option to upscale DVD content to 1080p. Of course, the results won’t be as stunning as an actual Blu-ray movie itself, but it ought to be better than your regular DVD experience, although it remains to be seen whether the upscaling algorithm is up to the task or not. Other than that, the DSM-SL20U2 is capable of burningDVD±R at 20x, DVD+RW at 8x and DVD-RAM at 12x. Expect to fork out around €85 for the DSM-SL20U2 as it hits retail stores in Japan at the end of this month.
