Elpida Memory is first off the blocks to release the 2.5Gbps 1-Gigabit DDR3 SDRAM in the world, featuring “an optimized design based on a copper interconnect process and new circuit technology” that results in superior speeds and an ultra-low voltage operation of 1.2V without deviating from DDR3 specifications. Sounds like just the ting to have if you’re a hardcore gamer or someone who wants nothing but the best performance on a computer. It is able to achieves data rates of 2.5Gbps at 1.5V and 1.8Gbps at 1.2V, which is notably faster compared to current industry standards of 1.6Gbps at 1.5V. Elpida will make these available at the end of this month onwards without revealing pricing details. [Press Release]
